A security vulnerability has been identified in the configuration of the Apache Santuario (XML Security for Java) library used by Eucalyptus 3.1.0 and earlier. An update is now available that resolves this issue. We advise immediately updating all affected Eucalyptus installations following the instructions below.
Eucalyptus Java-based components use the Apache Santuario (XML Security) library for processing digital signatures in SOAP requests. The provided library configuration allowed for the use of XML Signature transforms (such as XSL-T and XPath) that could be abused by a malicious user and lead to Denial of Service attacks.
Eucalyptus versions 3.1.1 resolves this issue.
Please see https://www.eucalyptus.com/download/eucalyptus for instructions on downloading and upgrading to the latest Eucalyptus software.
