Veteran Technology & Cloud Marketer Joins Eucalyptus’ Growing Management Team
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – February 16, 2011 – Eucalyptus Systems, creators of the leading independent cloud platform, today announced that David Butler has joined the company as vice president of marketing. Bringing more than 25 years’ experience in driving marketing and product strategy and execution for both start-ups and large enterprise software companies, Butler oversees the global corporate and product marketing and management for Eucalyptus and its popular open source cloud computing platform for the enterprise.

Butler was most recently the vice president of marketing for Digital Reef, where he was responsible for establishing on-premise and cloud-hosted eDiscovery and information governance solutions. Prior to that, he led HP Software’s market and product strategy initiatives, where he was responsible for private cloud computing and storage automation software. Butler also served as chief evangelist for the HP Business Service Automation Suite as well as HP’s worldwide SOA director and chief evangelist. He also led HP Technology Solutions Group’s SOA marketing and thought leadership activities. Prior to HP, Butler was the vice president of marketing and chief SOA evangelist for Systinet, where he defined and established the product and marketing vision for Systinet’s SOA governance products, which led to an acquisition by Mercury Interactive.
