Marten Mickos

Chief Executive Officer

Marten Mickos builds global disruptive businesses. As CEO of MySQL AB for seven years, Mickos grew that company from a garage start-up to the second largest open source company in the world. After the acquisition by Sun Microsystems of MySQL AB for $1bn, he served as Senior Vice President of Sun's Database Group.

Previously, Mickos held multi-national CEO and senior executive positions in his native Finland. He is a member of the board of Mozilla Messaging and Electrosonic. Mickos holds a M.Sc. in technical physics from Helsinki University of Technology. In 2006 he received the Audemars Piguet "Changing Times Award: European Entrepreneur of the Year 2006" and the Nokia Foundation Award.

Woody is the Chief Financial Officer and Co-founder of Eucalyptus Systems Inc., the market leader in open source, on-premise, private and hybrid cloud infrastructure software. A serial entrepreneur and passionate about technology, Woody is responsible for the commercial growth and strategic direction of Eucalyptus.

Woody brings a broad background to his role as CFO of Eucalyptus. He has served in many executive and financial roles over the past twenty years. In 2004, Woody co-founded Old Firehouse Capital and successfully innovated a business model to leverage the developing turmoil in real estate capital markets. Prior to that, Woody was involved in industries as diverse as art to auto parts, leveraging technology and finance to change the status quo of mature markets.

Woody is a graduate of The Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He lives in Santa Barbara with his wife and three boys.

Dr. Rich Wolski

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Rich Wolski is the Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder of Eucalyptus Systems Inc., and a Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Having received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Davis (while a researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) he has also held positions at the University of California, San Diego, and the University of Tennessee. He is currently also a strategic advisor to the San Diego Supercomputer Center and an adjunct faculty member at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Rich has led several national scale research efforts in the area of high-performance distributed computing and grid computing, is the author of numerous research articles concerning the empirical study of distributed systems, and is the progenitor of the Eucalyptus project.

Matt Reid

Matt Reid

Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Matt Reid oversees the growing Sales, Services and Marketing teams, which includes direct sales, pre and post sales engineering, corporate marketing, product management, and demand generation.

Matt has over 15 years of technology industry experience and previously was the VP of Worldwide Marketing for Shunra Software, the market share leader in WAN emulation and application performance testing solutions. Preceding this he led product marketing for Expertcity (acquired by Citrix), where he helped the SaaS division, renamed Citrix Online, obtain multi-industry leadership. In late 2004 he directed the market launch of the world's fastest growing web conferencing solution, GoToMeeting. He was also responsible for the go-to-market strategies of the company's on-demand solutions: GoToMyPC, GoToAssist, and GoToWebinar.

Matt has held leadership positions in Sales and Marketing for Citrix Systems, Tidal Software (acquired by Cisco), Platinum Technology (acquired by CA) and EDS (acquired by HP).

Matt holds an MBA from the California State University, Sacramento and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business/Economics and Political Science from U.C. Santa Barbara.

Dr. Steven Fitzgerald

Vice President of Technical Services

Dr. Steven Fitzgerald is the Vice President of Technical Services and is responsible for expanding our customer support services. He is also involved in supporting product development.

Steve has over 10 years experience in senior IT management and has served as the Information Security Officer, Director of Pioneering Technologies, and Chief Technology Officer for California State University, Northridge. Steve has also participated in a number of research projects associated with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the University of Southern California's Information Sciences Institute. His research and development efforts have focused on high performance computing, grid computing, and identity management. Dr. Fitzgerald has lead a number of projects to improve IT services by the use of leading-edge technologies.

Steve holds a D.Sc. from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
