Middleware and Applications Yielding Heterogenous Environments for Metacomputing

At the MAYHEM lab, we work on the research and development of software for grid computing, which can be defined as performance-oriented distributed computation amidst a set of federated computing resources exhibiting platform heterogeneity and administrative autonomy. Another name for this kind of software is Grid Middleware. Our goal is to maximize the performance of grid applications by creating tools that enable increasingly effective meta-scheduling on a grid. Our current research foci include:
  • Practical distributed system implementation / Statistical Forecasting / Computational Resource Monitoring - NWS
  • Dynamic statistical prediction techniques
  • Computational economics - GCommerce
  • Peer-to-peer systems
  • Massively parallel algorithms - GridSAT (a.k.a. GrADSAT)
  • GridSAT
